Frequently asked questions:
NCTUE Implementation

Starting September 15th, Metergy will report your Metergy-specific utility payment history to the National Consumer Telecom & Utilities Exchange (NCTUE). This change can help you build a stronger financial profile—just by paying your Metergy bill on time.

What is NCTUE?

NCTUE is a Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliant consumer reporting agency managed by Equifax that collects and shares payment history data from telecom and utility companies. Service providers may use this information to assess credit risk.

Why is Metergy using NCTUE?

NCTUE is a utility-specific reporting platform. By using NCTUE, Metergy is:

  • Promoting transparency in utility billing and encouraging on-time payments
  • Helping you create a utility payment history that may be considered by other service
    providers in making lending decisions

What information is shared?

Only your Metergy utility payment history and account status are reported to NCTUE. These
details include:

  • Your name, service address, and account number
  • Account start and end dates
  • Monthly payment status (on-time, delinquent) and amounts of overdue balances (if any)
  • Account status (open, closed)

Metergy does not report your social security number, bank account information, or any credit card information. Metergy will not report to NCTUE your payment to other companies including rent or other utilities. All data sharing is done securely and in compliance with U.S. federal regulations, including FCRA.

A bill is considered late if paid any time after the listed due date. You can find the payment due date on your monthly invoice. The due date for your bill is dependent on your state and the utility provided by Metergy. To avoid missing a payment, visit www.mymetergyportal.com to sign up for automatic payments (AutoPay).

How is my data protected?

Your information is protected under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)*, and per the terms of Metergy’s Privacy Policy: https://www.metergysolutions.com/privacy-policy-united-states.

What does this mean for me?

  • On-time payments may help improve your credit score, making it easier to qualify for rentals, loans, or better service rates
  • Your financial reliability is recognized—even if you don’t have traditional credit history
  • You may gain access to better deals from lenders and service providers who view your full credit picture

Can I opt out of NCTUE reporting?

You cannot opt out of NCTUE reporting. Payment reporting is a standard part of Metergy’s billing process and conditions of service. Metergy is committed to accurate reporting and resolving any issues promptly.

What if I believe there is an error in my report?
